The Reach Federal Credit Union Story

Reach Credit Union had its start in 1971 to serve the employees of Raychem Corporation. It was founded as a non-profit financial service cooperative dedicated to helping its members get ahead financially. After Tyco International acquired Raychem in 1999, we changed our name and expanded our field of membership to include all Tyco International employees. In 2007 Tyco Electronics and Tyco Healthcare were divested from Tyco International. This modified Tyco FCU’s field of membership to include the three separate organizations – Tyco International, Tyco Electronics (now TE Connectivity), and Tyco Healthcare (now Covidien).

From the beginning, our members have had a say in what we do and a stake in our success. By returning profits to our members in the form of higher dividends, lower loan rates and banking fees, various free or lower-cost financial services, and improved delivery systems, we instill a sense of ownership among our members that results in even greater down-the-road success. Our members elect volunteer credit union officials from their own ranks to help to direct credit union activities and protect your pool of funds.

Over the years, we’ve grown and evolved into a full-service virtual banking financial institution. Our management and team of personal bankers are committed to helping members reach their full financial potential with financial education and resources, as well as the many products and services we have always offered. Whether our members are saving for college, preparing to purchase a first home, improving FICO scores, reducing financial stress, accessing accounts 24/7 or applying for a loan to purchase that next vehicle or new home, we’re there when they need financial assistance and resources the most.

By 2013, due to divestitures, mergers and acquisitions by our corporate sponsors, the credit union’s field of membership now includes ADT, Atkore, Covidien, Elo Touch Solutions, Mallinckrodt, Pentair, TE Connectivity and Tyco International employees and their families. Since only one of our sponsor companies still has the name Tyco, on August 1, 2013 we became Reach Federal Credit Union. New name, same focus: helping our members reach their full financial potential.
